*Background - State of the Industry (February 2026)
Ippodo Tea issued an “Important notice about Matcha Supply Shortage and Revisions to Pricing” in June 2025. Since then, the circumstances affecting Japanese tea have changed substantially. As a result, we are now forced to place limitations on sales of bancha products like hojicha and genmaicha. We would like to explain the background to the current shortages in Japanese tea, and inform you how we are responding. You can read the full statement below.
