About Ippodo black tea
Ippodo black tea is lovingly made, blended using mainly Japanese green tea leaves grown in Kyoto Prefecture. Interestingly, after producing sencha with leaves from the first harvest, we’ve created this black tea with leaves from the second and subsequent harvests from the same tea plants. You will enjoy a flavour that derives from a different way of processing the tea. This black tea has the kind of mild, refined flavour that conforms to Ippodo’s tastes. Due to limited supply, it is only available for a limited time.

How does it taste?

The tea has a mild taste, with only slight sharpness. It possesses a fruity fragrance reminiscent of apples, and subtle, lingering sweetness not unlike candy floss. It tastes great prepared straight.

How/when to enjoy it?

Let the mild taste and refined fragrance of this tea comfort you while resting and relaxing, reading, listening to music, or enjoying your hobbies.

What to enjoy it with?

Scones, muffins, and other baked confections that go well with black tea, as well as standard wagashi sweets like sanshoku dango (three-coloured dumplings) and ichigo daifuku (soft rice cakes filled with a strawberry and sweet bean jam).
