Notice: Upcoming Changes to Our Bancha Packaging and Net Weight (from Nov.1 2026)

Grown under direct sunlight, our bancha tea offers a crisp, refreshing flavour that pairs perfectly with everyday meals or a relaxing teatime break.
We are writing to let you know that from 1 November 2026, we will be updating both the packaging and net weight across our bancha category.

Pack size changed from 100g to 80g

Since around 2024, the surge in global demand for matcha has led tea producers to shift their focus towards matcha cultivation, making bancha leaves increasingly difficult to source.

To ensure our limited bancha teas reach as many customers as possible, we have taken the decision to change our pack size from 100g to 80g.

Our highest priority is maintaining the quality of our products. We understand this change may be disappointing for those who enjoy our teas every day, and we truly appreciate your kind understanding.

Name Changes for Hojicha and Genmaicha

We will also be simplifying our product names: "Gokujo Hojicha" will become simply "Hojicha", and "Gokujo Genmaicha" will become "Genmaicha".
Our hojicha selection is “Hojicha”, made mainly with roasted leaves, and “Kuki Hojicha”, made from roasted stems. We have streamlined the names to make the distinction between the two clearer.

Please be assured that only the names are changing—the quality and flavour of the tea leaves remain entirely unchanged.

From Cylindrical Bag to Standing Bag

The traditional cylindrical bags are transitioning to self-standing bags.
Designed to sit neatly on kitchen counters or dining tables, they are easy to keep within arm’s reach whenever you are ready to brew tea. We hope this small change brings a little extra comfort to your daily tea ritual.

Bancha for Everyday Teatime

Wakayanagi: Brisk and clean, pairing wonderfully with Western-style dishes.
Genmaicha: Gently aroma of roasted rice, an ideal companion to grilled fish.
Kuki Hojicha: Toasty yet crisp, goes well with rich, hearty dishes like grilled meats and gyoza dumplings.
Hojicha: Known for its rich, fragrant finish—delightful alongside sweets for afternoon tea.

Each tea possesses its own distinct character, offering endless ways to enjoy.
We look forward to continuing to be a part of your daily teatime.
