What Japanese tea do you enjoy while staying cozy during winter?

One-Cup Teabag Hojicha (2g x 25 bags)

How do you enjoy it?

I am very sensitive to the cold, so, as a general rule, I don’t like to move away from the warmth during the cold winter. When I’m taking it easy, relaxing on my warm electric carpet while watching TV or reading, I keep hot water and One-Cup Teabag Hojicha close at hand. I also love to finish my day with a cup of hot hojicha.

How do you prepare it?

One of the great things about One-Cup Teabags is that you don’t have to worry about how to prepare the tea. I love hojicha, and at the end of the day I drink it to wind down and forget all my worries. So, I want it to be very simple to prepare. One-Cup Teabag Hojicha is the perfect choice for someone like me.

Kumpu 150g Can w/box

How do you enjoy it?

At the end of the day, after we’ve put the kids to bed, my spouse and I sit down at the kotatsu table, with our legs tucked underneath for warmth. At times like that, we enjoy drinking Kumpu together. Sipping sencha, we tell each other about our day, and chat about other things for hours before going to bed.

How do you prepare it?

We prepare it with two heaping tablespoons of tea leaves and lots of lukewarm water. I like to leave the lid off the kyusu teapot so that I can watch the tea leaves unravel. When about seventy percent of the leaves have unravelled, I gently pour out the tea. We each have our own favourite teacup. We spend so much time busily working, doing chores around the house, and parenting during the day, so we really savour the leisurely time we have together in the evening.

What Japanese tea do you enjoy while staying cozy during winter?

Gokujo Hojicha (Roasted Tea) 100g Bag

How do you enjoy it?

When taking it easy at home on my days off, once things have settled down after the hectic time during the New Year holidays, my choice of tea is of course Gokujo Hojicha, prepared with piping hot water. The wonderful aroma and mild taste of freshly prepared hojicha soothes me, allowing me to rest and unwind. It makes me feel relaxed, and supremely happy.

How do you prepare it?

I mix multiple infusions together, brewing repeatedly with the same leaves, and adding each potful to a separate teapot large enough to hold as many as three infusions. The gentle flavour this kind of mixing produces really appeals to me. I make a large batch, and drink it from one of my favourite mugs. I enjoy deciding which mug to use based on how I feel that day. I usually pair hojicha with chocolate. They go great together, so I inadvertently end up eating more than I should as I drink hojicha while watching movies or TV series.
