What kind of gift is it?
A well-balanced combination of gyokuro and sencha flavours. This set is a good choice as a gift to someone who you know has a kyusu teapot, but you don't know his or her preferences for tea. Or as a gift for someone who has probably not had Ippodo tea before.
How does it taste?
Gyokuro Kakurei has a fragrance that brings to mind the sea and mild sweetness. Sencha Shoike-no-o has a refreshing fragrance that permeates the air and just the right balance of sweetness and sharpness. Both taste very satisfying, but have light aftertastes.
How/when to enjoy it?
These teas can be enjoyed as either mellow, full-bodied teas or light teas depending on how they are prepared. Prepare them using boiling hot water to enjoy them as light teas that go well with meals. After a meal, prepare them with boiling hot water that has been slightly cooled to enjoy more rich, full-bodied flavour.
Who do Ippodo staff give it to?
To friends who have not had Ippodo tea before. The small cans in this set contain enough tea for eight kyusu teapot servings each of both gyokuro and sencha. That is sufficient to enjoy each tea, but not so much as to overwhelm a recipient not used to Japanese tea.
